HISTORY

The Department of Tourism Management started its teaching activities at the undergraduate level within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Sakarya University in 2001-2002 academic year. In 2011, it continued its teaching activities within the Faculty of Business Administration and in 2016 within the Faculty of Tourism. It was affiliated to Sakarya University of Applied Sciences Faculty of Tourism, which was established with the law dated 18.05.2018 and numbered 7141. The department has produced approximately 2 thousand undergraduate graduates in 23 years. Our graduates mainly work in different positions in Istanbul and Marmara region. The department was accredited by the Tourism Education Evaluation and Accreditation Board in 2020 and registered its quality.

At the graduate level, the Department of Tourism Management was established under the Department of Business Administration of the Institute of Social Sciences in the 1998-1999 academic year and started accepting both thesis and non-thesis graduate students. In 2002, the Department of Tourism Management Institute was established. Since 2010, it has started to accept doctoral students. Our department was affiliated to Sakarya University of Applied Sciences Graduate Education Institute established in 2018. The department has graduated 80 doctor of science and 300 science specialists in about 26 years. Most of our graduates continue their academic activities as research assistants, lecturers and faculty members in various universities in Turkey.
