Program Teaching Objectives
The tourism management program of the tourism management department was accredited by the "Tourism Education Evaluation and Accreditation Board" (TURAK) in 2020 and registered its quality.
Tourism management program teaching objectives ;
PTO 1: To train competent and professional employees at the operational level who can provide customer satisfaction-oriented service in tourism enterprises,
PTO 2: To train managers who can make strategic decisions, have innovative and leadership qualities in accommodation, travel, food and beverage, recreation and other tourism enterprises,
PTO 3: To train individuals who are sensitive about sustainability and environmental awareness in the tourism sector and who can develop social responsibility projects,
PTO 4: To train internationally competitive specialists in the field of tourism management who have a good command of cultural diversity and global tourism trends,
PTO 5: To train tourism professionals who can use information technologies effectively, think analytically and produce innovative solutions.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Communicate with colleagues and guests by demonstrating basic reading, comprehension, speaking and writing skills in English            

  2. To be able to communicate with colleagues and guests by demonstrating basic reading, comprehension, speaking and writing skills in foreign language(s) in the curriculum other than English.

  3. Communicate effectively with people from different culturesr.             

  4. Produce a project proposal by doing research. 

  5. With the theoretical and practical experience gained in the field; manages the processes of accessing, analyzing, synthesizing and interpreting information and producing solutions to problems.        

  6. Uses information and communication technologies, software and tools related to the field.              

  7. Explains national and international legal regulations, professional standards and ethical principles related to the field at a basic level.

  8. Continuously develops personal and professional equipment with the awareness of lifelong learning.   

  9. Applies personal care (cleaning, clothing, appearance), hygiene and sanitation rules required by the tourism sector.              

  10. Explains the main theories, facts, concepts and principles in the field of tourism.          

  11. Demonstrates the ability to take responsibility and work in a team or independently.

  12. Explains at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The UN SDGs are: 1) poverty, 2) hunger, 3) healthy and quality lives, 4) quality education, 5) gender equality, 6) clean water and sanitation, 7) affordable clean energy, 8) decent work and economic growth, 9) industry, innovation and infrastructure, 10) reducing inequalities, 11) sustainable cities and communities, 12) responsible consumption and production, 13) climate action, 14) life in water, 15) life on land, 16) peace, justice and strong institutions, 17) common endeavor for the goals.  

  13. Comprehensively explains the concepts, theories, principles and facts related to tourism management.

  14. Outlines the structure and functioning of the tourism sector and its importance in the development of the country.

  15. Evaluates touristic values in the world and in Turkey in terms of tourism supply and demand.

  16. Uses the theories and practices in the field of management to effectively manage tourism businesses (hotel business, travel business, food and beverage business, etc.).      

  17. Forecasts the future by following the developments in the Turkish and world economy and tourism

  18. Manages service processes in tourism enterprises in a way to ensure guest satisfaction.
