The main objective of the department is to train specialists and doctors of science with advanced knowledge at the graduate level in all fields required by the tourism academy and industry. The main objective of the department is to train specialists who have comprehensive knowledge in the management of the tourism sector, who have the ability to critically analyze sectoral developments using this knowledge and to produce strategies and policies for the future, who know the current functional practices related to the tourism and service sector, who can subject this knowledge and experience to scientific research and produce original publications, who can contribute to the needs of national and international institutions and organizations, academia, publishing and information circles with their analysis and scientific prediction skills.
When the program is successfully completed and the program qualifications are met, a PhD degree in Tourism Management and the title of Doctor of Science is obtained.
Students who want to enroll in the PhD program must complete the processes / exams determined by YÖK within the framework of the academic and legal legislation of the university. In addition, students who wish within the scope of the 100/2000 YÖK Doctoral Scholarships Project can apply to the doctoral program. Student admission and application requirements for the program and the 100/2000 Higher Education Council of Higher Education Doctoral Scholarship program are published on the Institute of Graduate Studies website before the start of the academic term. A student who has started his/her education in an equivalent program in Turkey or abroad can apply for transfer. The acceptance of students is examined and evaluated before the start of the semester, taking into account the conditions of each student and the degree applied for.
In order to complete the program and receive the PhD degree, a total of 8 courses, one of which is compulsory from the graduate courses announced in the course plan, must be successful in a total of 8 courses and specialization courses and must be successful in the proficiency exam. The student who meets these conditions passes to the thesis stage. In the thesis stage, the student is subjected to 4 thesis monitoring exams, at least one of which is a thesis proposal exam. If the student whose thesis is suitable for defense is successful in the thesis defense exam in front of the jury, he / she receives the title of doctor of science.
